FlashMonkey929 wrotenot really sure... I meant that it didn't say "BMW LED" like on the headlight we have here on the US-spec X1.The color of the light suggests they are LED or at least HID, but in an open reflector housing vs. a projector.

PlasticEngine wroteI couldn't get much from the Italy website and too lazy to translate, but I think the main/high beams are probably still LED, just reflectors instead of projectors, and the turn signal and halos are not.not really sure... does BMW or any other automaker still manufacture new cars with HID headlights? I don't know of any right now... everybody seem to have to switched to using LED or laser(for expensive models)
FlashMonkey929 wroteI will gladly skip a couple of other options and in order to get laser headlight option if BMW offer it in the future. Other BMW models offer it for around $1000 which is cheap.(compared to close to $2000 when HID first became available all those years ago)I couldn't get much from the Italy website and too lazy to translate, but I think the main/high beams are probably still LED, just reflectors instead of projectors, and the turn signal and halos are not.
I personally prefer a good HID with projectors, the light output tends to project more uniformly over a farther distance, and the output is a warmer color which is better for night driving and contrast. LED light tends to be a bit more diffuse and drops off sooner, though it has improved a lot in recent years.

PlasticEngine wroteI don't care as much about the laser lights; I'd much prefer LED matrix anti-dazzle lights. It's available on the XC40 if you get the Ultimate package.I will gladly skip a couple of other options and in order to get laser headlight option if BMW offer it in the future. KPM2C wroteUS X1 does not get adaptive LED headlights. but it's also not the basic headlight like the one mentioned in this thread. All are LED - even basic.
Difference is in the fact that the option is regarding adaptive LED lights…
MontyB1 wrotedoes that mean they are the same headlights as this X1 in South Africa? From the spec sheet I posted...

Gftbaksken wroteYouTube's auto Dutch-to-English tranlate function in the videos works really well these days! I can finally under stand what these French/German/Dutch/Chinese/Japanese X1 review videos are saying.Another youtube movie with base light. (In dutch)
Gftbaksken wrotesadly, we here in the US get the third kind: the ugly LED non-adaptive headlights (not the base LED headlight, but also not full adaptive LED headlight)Another picture of base vs adaptive
