Would love someone else to test and report back.

Here’s the process:

1.Remove current phone from car entirely
2.Reset WiFi password
3. Pair phone again, making sure to do as many commands on the iDrive screen as possible including selecting “use with CarPlay”. (Not sure about this but this was a hunch from a service guy)

4. The big one: In your iPhone WiFi settings, find the WiFi network for your car, select the info button, scroll down and toggle off “Limit IP address tracking”.

That’s it. For some reason after toggling that setting off I’ve been able to use the phone without audio cutting out and without CarPlay completely crashing on phone calls…. Before I toggled this off my CarPlay would crash almost immediately after making a phone call. I heard maybe one audio cut out in 45 minutes and prior it was much more frequent.

Would love to have someone else test and see if it improves.

Thanks for this suggestion. Applied it yesterday. Unfortunately, didn’t fix the call dropping but it made CarPlay WAY more responsive (e.g. SiriusXM app would frequently take minutes to load in CarPlay, now it’s almost immediate).

Might just be coincidence, but did have an issue with my vehicle recognizing my phone this morning. Have encountered this before, but it was especially stubborn this morning (I.e., wouldn’t find/connect despite several attempts; took 10+ minutes for it to magically appear).

My plan is to run through these steps again over the weekend to see if I can reach a state of stability.

Although might not be the magic bullet, encouraging that we have some steps that appear to be having some sort of effect!

Nice thanks for trying! I created a thread to track this specific improvement. If you don’t mind throwing your iDrive version and iOS version in the thread that would be helpful.
